Well, that was wishful thinking by a Big B Constant Fan.And who says I can't?
When Chiranjeevi brought the House down (along with a couple hundred trees to make space for his 10 lakh supporters) on that dried sprawling 120-acre Avilala Tank, I sat there, watched that on the telly and wished how it would have been if it was the great AB in his place?
And that was some food for thought (make it, a Banquet for thought , if you want to).
Maybe the Legend would take to it, in the same diplomatic, professional demeanor that he brings to his projects, even for that screechy, horror bits that the Directors think up as seen in his recent ones. (Didn't quite get that last part, buddy? Close your eyes and think about that Alien Dancing Phantom in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, or that endearing ghost who was suffocated and killed in typicall Bollywood mushy melodrama in Bhoothnath?..Ah.There, get the idea, don't you?
I am thinking the entire exercise would be handled by his rabid media managers. Maybe after a score or two of National Surveys on key National Issues, they would narrow down on a small list of core issues.Next step would be to bring in, the best advertising agency into the exercise and ask them to come out with a comprehensive strategy to 'Launch' Big B into the Dirty Arena of Indian Politics.
(Sad that Gucci, Dairymilk,Parker, Baidyanath Chyawanprash and Reid & Taylor cant do much on that!).
After the finalizing of the name of the party, the concept and content of the launch would begin the media onslaught on TV and Print about the Second Coming of Big B.
We would have PYT's who can't even spell his Surname without referring thrice into Wikipedia, literally frothing and asphyxiating on camera on the Big Launch of Big B.
We would have Discussions by eminent personalities on TV, authorities, political analysts, Social psychologists clawing and mauling each other, much to the delight of the celebrity TV Moderator on the Political Correctness of AB enetring politics the second time.
An on the Big B Day, the entire TV dom would rival each other in streaming into our Living rooms,the legendary baritone, proclaiming about how he listened to His Inner Voice, and decided to do this for the Greater Good of the Big Billion that has made him what he is now.
I suspect the Big B Day to be in cleverly-close proximity to the National Election to keep the euphoria live and breathing.
Maybe, He would contest independently, or may align with the Nationalist Bigwig making the loudest noise, in close consultation with the Media Team, get a nodding approval and maybe become their PM candidate.
And if all goes well, the baritone will once again ring out, this time as a solemn oath, dedicating his time in the humble service of the Nation.
Which of course, will be streamed live, with the delightful accompaniment of the rabid reporting brigade.
That is an essentially wonderful premise, once you think about it.
More than anything, that would prove as the biggest blockbuster drama Big B has ever participated in.
(or rather lived in).
But, there is a small hitch.
It just doesn't work that way.
It might have, in fits and starts, but Common Sense is on its Great Comeback Trip, in this Nation.
The same media who deluges us with the most surreal nuggets related to a event, also shows us the entire futility of their cosmetic involvement too.
Issues go deeper than that. National Issues that mark the difference between Life and death.
Chiranjeevi's emotional appeal looks good on TV.
But you need to get through a couple of CC cameras, three levels of high security and a million questions before you get to the swanky Waiting Room to Wait for the Leader.
Raise that bar a 100 times for AB's Corporate head Quarters.
That alone tells you the essential flaw in the Call from Deep Inside.
Selfless National Service (without Corporate Sponsors) is something far removed from the current media mandarin's 'Conceptualized" Politics.
I have decided.
I'd rather have that baritone, intoning from a prepared script.
In the arc lights - in for the Camera.
After all, is there anything more selfless than pure entertainment by a consummate performer?
